About the Blockade
Imagine you’re a Cuban pediatrician. Each of the three babies in front you needs an artificial heart valve to survive. But there’s only one such heart valve available in the entire country. Because of the U.S. blockade and its sanctions on your country that block your purchases, you cannot obtain any on the open market.
There is a growing movement to end the blockade with 50 million Americans having already called for an end to this through their houses of worship, organization and elected officials.
From a humanitarian point of view, the U.S. blockage of Cuba has cost thousands of lives and put millions more at risk. From a business point of view, it has kept billions of dollars (at least 1.2 billion per year) from flowing to U.S. businesses and industries. These include:
- Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals
- Agricultural & Food Exports
- Shipping & Finance
- Airlines, Cruise Lines, & Hotels
Americans for Common Sense on Cuba is working to end the blockade. This end would unblock revenue streams for the mutual benefit of companies across the U.S. business spectrum, and open opportunities across the Florida Straits.
